Over the course of the last month I had heard a lot about the game Minecraft. I had seen my friend Eric play it and wondered the whole time... What on Earth is going on? Everyone is ranting and raving about this game composed of a bunch of 8-bit blocks!
I'll tell you what's going on... Minecraft!
I've been playing for the last hour and a half. Currently you can only play by yourself unless you set up a server, and I'm not sure how hard that is to do, nor could I connect to another server when I tried, so I guess for now I'm just sticking to single player!
This game is a time-sucker. Definitely for breaks only, unless you want to lose plenty of homework time! It is a sandbox game that you can basically do anything you can imagine in. You use the blocks that you get to craft things which can be used to build shelters, mine resources faster, or slay monsters harder.
The first half an hour I played I was more than confused. I was also slain by monsters in the dark. My advice to you right off the bat is to do what I did the for the second and third half hours that I played. Watch a tutorial on Youtube. Just look them up, there are tons of them.
Once you get the hang of it it's pretty simple. Except for the whole crafting thing. I'm still having trouble figuring out what I can and can't build. Which combination makes what. And where on Earth I can pick things up that would make better a combination.
So far I have build a little cobblestone house for myself, which is currently walled up completely until:
- I learn how to make a door.
- Morning comes!
I'd just like to point out one thing to the creators, if they were to ever read my blog. Your music, while cool, reminds me of Silent Hill. I don't like that. I'm in a world all by myself with a bunch of night-monsters roaming around. I don't want to be creeped out and depressed. Bad combo. I know you're still in Beta, so please, add some happier music. I feel like it could add a lot to your game!

Thanks for reading everyone! If you'd like to play the game with me, please just drop me a message on Facebook and maybe we can figure something out!
